A family of churches pursuing God’s Kingdom

Centrepoint Vineyard Church is a church planting initiative of Vineyard Churches Australia, which is part of the global Association of Vineyard Churches known as the Vineyard Movement. Vineyard Churches Australia is a family of churches across the country that is pursuing God’s Kingdom for our nation.

The first Vineyard Church began in West Los Angeles, USA, in 1974 as a small bible study. From there, other churches were planted, each with a focus on worship, prayer, and equipping Christians to spread God’s Kingdom. By 1982, the budding network of Vineyard Churches came under the leadership of John and Carol Wimber, and were officially incorporated into the Association of Vineyard Churches. The movement spread beyond the US, and there are now over 2500 churches in six continents around the world. The first Vineyard Churches were planted in Australia in 1995. The Association of Vineyard Churches Australia was officially formed in 2003.

Vineyard churches are committed to the theology and practice of the Kingdom of God, as demonstrated by Jesus, with an emphasis on worship, teaching and ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Vineyard also encourages that ‘Everyone Gets to Play’, i.e. we are all commissioned to do the work of the Kingdom. We’re thrilled at Centrepoint Vineyard to be planting as part of this family of churches. More info about the Vineyard, our values and distinctives can be found on the Vineyard Churches Australia website.
